Christmas is coming up fast so we thought we would draw up a list of our favourite Christmas Markets to get us in the festive mood.
St Nicholas Fair, 17th November - 23rd December: a magical Christmas village will be springing up in York city centre all the way from Parliament Street to Coppergate this festive season. Wooden chalets, bright with glistening baubles and twinkling fairy lights, will be kindling this year’s Christmas embers.
Christkindelmarkt, the UK’s most established German market, will be returning to Millennium Square between 11th November - 18th December. Along with the usual gift stalls and mulled wine vendors, carousel rides and an awe-inspiring Christmas tree will be erected to everyone’s enjoyment.
In the shadow of the magnificent Cathedral, Lincoln’s holiday spirit will thrive as various stalls and vendors begin to open sleepy eyes all throughout 1st December to 4th December. Find statues lovingly carved, and other perfect stocking fillers!
The festivities began on 10th November running until 21st December in Albert Square. The city invites you to taste their roasted chestnuts and sip on fragrant mulled wines, all while languidly viewing the delicate artisan pieces along rows of Yuletide stalls.
Aberdeen’s Winter Festival is a sparkling event running from 25th November - 8th January! Its Norwegian twin town has once again kindly donated a Christmas tree and the switch on launches 24th November. This glittery opening will then see the return of a Christmas village, a reindeer parade and Hogmanay celebrations.
Hosted at the City Hall 19th Nov until 22nd December, with an additional 20 stalls outside. Come and enjoy continental food and discover new treasures — hand painted 1 decorations and more. Even better yet, Santa’s grotto offers children the opportunity to whisper their deepest desires for this year’s Christmas Day.
Dreaming of a white Christmas? Then come see the White Cliffs Christmas Market, 7th November until 2nd January, where not only will there be a snug market but a real ice icerink and continuous festive music. Keep out a listen for Santa’s reindeer — will you hear those sleigh bells jingling?
The ancient city will see the enchanting transformation being about 170 chalets surround the Roman Baths and the Abbey. There will be a glow-in-the-dark mini golf course, an ice rink and a spectacular animated light display which will breathe extra Yuletide greetings into this perfect holiday city.
10th November - 23rd December; 200 talented artists and 80 beautiful wooden stalls will be making their yearly debut in the city’s centre. Mesmerising lights will be watching down on the gentle buzz of visitors and locals gracing the streets from 10am until late every week.
11th November until 25th January, the longest running event, will be gracing the Southbank centre where an impressive display of lights, a Rock’n’Roll festival, a circus and of course the beloved market, has already begun to warmly invite visitors into its mince-pie smelling arms.
